Release Details Released (5/10/04) as HOLY GHOST: rare & unissued recordings (1962 - 70) 9 CD Spirit Box on Revenant Records RVN 213. [Disc 1, tracks 6 to 8 and Disc 2, tracks 1 to 3 previously released on Albert Smiles With Sunny (In Respect IR 39501). As well as the 9 CDs and the bonus CD, the box also contains the following: A 208 page, lavishly illustrated, hardback book containing essays by Val Wilmer, Amiri Baraka, Ben Young, Marc Chaloin, Daniel Caux and Carl Woideck, extensive information on CD tracks and sidemen, a section of eyewitness accounts, and a 16 page appendix entitled ‘Sightings’ which amounts to a complete chronological listing of Ayler’s musical career. A facsimile of the Paul Haines booklet which was included with the early copies of ‘Spiritual Unity’. A special digest version of The Cricket containing Ayler’s To Mr. Jones - I Had A Vision. A copy of a Slugs’ flier. A photo of Albert, aged 12. A copy of a note from Albert Ayler to Paul Karting. And a dead flower... *** |
